Like the first Fire Emblem Warriors title, Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is expected to blend the combat and gameplay elements of both parent series. As the Musou-style combat, in which one character faces down a horde of enemies, primarily derives from the Dynasty Warriors franchise, fans are hoping to see some nods to Fire Emblem in more than just the story. The inclusion of small gameplay elements from previous Fire Emblem titles could make Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes stand on its own.
