NFL star Hope Solo says she’s entering alcohol treatment after DWI arrest

Retired soccer champion Hope Solo said Friday she will be treated for alcohol after she was arrested last month on suspicion of driving a disabled vehicle and child abuse.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist and former US women’s national team goalkeeper said in a statement posted on her social media accounts that the decision prompted her to request a postponement next month’s appearance in the National Football Hall of Fame until 2023.

“I will voluntarily enter into an inpatient alcohol treatment program to address the challenges I have with alcohol,” Solow said. “At this time, my energies and focus are fully directed to my health, healing and taking care of my family.”
